Melody Mazuk died suddenly on April 4, 2026, while walking in Valley Forge National Historical Park, one of her most cherished places.
After the ICETE conference in Kenya in 2012, where Myrto and Melody met, Melody was invited to visit our college and assess our library in order to recommend what kind of help was needed to develop it, but also in order to begin cataloging the collection of Robert P. Gordon, Myrto’s supervisor from Cambridge University, who had donated his library to GrBC.
Melody first visited our college in 2013. With her extensive experience, she proposed a complete reorganization and professional recataloging of the collection using the LC System, and personally trained Olga, then a first-year student, in library management and cataloguing. With Melody’s ongoing support and guidance, Olga has continued to oversee the library to this day.
Over the years, Melody developed deep and lasting bonds with the College and its people. She returned regularly, offering not only her own skilled labor but also mobilizing other volunteers. She generously provided essential equipment and resources, always seeking ways to strengthen and enrich the library for the benefit of future generations of students and scholars until her last visit in October 2025.
Melody’s faithful, humble, and joyful service has left a lasting mark on GrBC. Her love for the Lord, her professional excellence, and her genuine care for our community will long be remembered with deep gratitude.
