A joint initiative of the Greek Bible College (GrBC) and City to City Balkans.
About E.C.S.O.C.
The E.C.S.O.C. is an academic and ministry collaboration between the Greek Bible College (GrBC) and City to City Balkans. This initiative was born as a fruit of the vision of the First Greek Evangelical Church to offer a space for study and resources that serves the wider community.
Purpose
The purpose of E.C.S.O.C. is the in-depth study of Eastern Orthodox theology. Through serious academic research we seek:
- Understanding beyond stereotypes: the study of Orthodox thought and tradition beyond clichés and prejudices.
- Theological response: the formulation of a well-grounded, documented and constructive evangelical approach.
- Support of the churches: the development of educational material and resources that strengthen the presence and witness of evangelical churches in Orthodox-majority contexts.
Areas of Collaboration
Our collaboration develops through various academic and educational initiatives:
- Academic Teaching: Specialized courses on Orthodox theology integrated into the GrBC curriculum (on a biennial basis).
- Annual Public Lectures: Organization of open lectures with invited evangelical scholars, in cooperation with the First Greek Evangelical Church.
- Webinars & Dialogue Series:
- Dialogue Series: Presentations by Orthodox academics for fruitful dialogue.
- Engaging Eastern Orthodox Theology: Evangelical engagement with key theological issues.
- Patristic Series: Research on Patristic theology.
- Research & Publications: Writing, translation and digital publication of studies, articles and book reviews.
